Sunday Thoughts: Hearts Bound Together by Henry B Eyring

1 Hearts Bound Together

When I first felt the first stirrings of the Spirit of Elijah, I read this talk and for the first time understood what the scripture in Malachi means.

"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: “And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." (Malachi 4: 5-6)

Elder Eyring described what Pres. Joseph F. Smith saw in a revelation, "he saw the Savior organize His servants among the spirits to preach His gospel to every spirit and offer the chance to choose the covenants and the blessings which are offered to you and which you want for your ancestors. All are to have that chance." Since the ordinances required for exaltation are only available in this world, someone has to accept those ordinances in their behalf. I picture myself working in-tandem with my loving grandpas and grandmas who have already passed on, they as missionaries inviting all to come to Christ, and then urging me to get onto Family Search and find their names to take to the temple. "Their hearts are bound to you. Their hope is in your hands. You will have more than your own strength as you choose to labor on to find them."
